What is Safeguarding?
At Langley Moor Nursery School, we regard the safeguarding of children as our main priority. We believe that we all have the right to be happy, to be safe and to learn. We all have the responsibility to make this happen.
Welcome to our Safeguarding information page. Hopefully you will find everything that you need. Our nursery recognises that children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and or sexual identity have the right to be protected from harm.
All suspicions and allegations will be taken seriously and reported to our designated leads for Safeguarding: Mrs Simon and Mrs Wallace.
Our Safeguarding Policy includes all aspects of nursery life, including wrap around care, staff, visitors, parents, carers, premises, the environment and daily teaching and practice.
Members of staff responsible
All staff are responsible for ensuring that each child remains safe. The designated lead for Safeguarding is Mrs Simon.
We follow strict guidelines to ensure that everyone who works with our children is vetted. Ongoing checks and “whistle-blowing” are in line with current policy.
All staff are trained and supported to ensure that they are equipped to appropriately recognise, respond to and support children who are vulnerable and may be in need of safeguarding.
In advance of a child starting we must obtain the following information:
- Emergency contact numbers
- Childs’ special dietary or health requirements
- Any allergies or conditions the child has
- Information about parental responsibilities
- Any care or court orders in place for the child
Parents and carers must tell us of any changes to these details.

Nursery staff are aware of the need to share information appropriately. The procedures followed are in line with the local authority child protection procedures.
Any Questions or Concerns
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the nursery. The school can be contacted through email or by telephone. Please ask for Mrs Simon.
