The children love looking at books and listening to stories at nursery. They are also very pleased that we have resumed the weekly sending home of library books. This week they have been given a book token which can be spent at any participating retailers.
Busy hands at nursery
The children are staying longer at activities now, and getting really engrossed!
Developing Fine Motor Control
The children have been developing their fine motor control (fingers).
Reading and Writing
Winter time is a good time to stay cosy indoors with a book or practise early writing skills
Well-being
If we can nurture children’s well-being in their early years it will help build resilience to carry forward and help them fulfill their potential. But to do this we need to feel comfortable, healthy and happy ourselves. At the current time this is not always easy. For some useful tips please follow the link below

A World of Imagination
As children engage in pretend play we can see their imagination develop. They are using increasing vocabulary as they talk during their play, using their own experiences.
Busy Fingers!
We have been introducing more opportunities which support fine motor development such as, turning nuts and bolts, threading, peg boards and building carefully with various sized blocks. Children often revisit these skills in their own play.
Woodland Christmas
We decorated some small pine cones from the pine tree in the Woodland Area, then put them back on the big pine tree. We sang “Oh Christmas Tree”as we stood at the base of the tree. A lovely experience.
Concentration
We are now seeing much higher levels of concentration in activities now that children are relaxed and comfortable.
A World of Imagination
The children have been using our indoor resources more this week, and we are seeing their imagination developing more and more.
