This week we have had great fun making bubbles as part of our Science learning.
World Nursery Rhyme Week
We had great fun in Nursery this week taking part in World Nursery Rhyme week. Each day we explored a different rhyme, learning the words and joining in to sing each one. Some were songs we were familiar with and some were new to the children. Our favourite rhyme was definitely ‘The Big Ship Sails’.
Babbling Babies
This week we have had some baby visits, as part of our science learning about growth and change.
All Things Autumn!
This week we have continued to explore and learn about autumn. The children were very excited to share their treasure from the autumn hunts they went on during half term. We shared these with our friends, described what we had found and then used these items to create artwork using printing and rolling in the paint. During the week, we read ‘Pumpkin Soup’ and ‘Room on the Broom’,made magic potions with the pumpkins and introduced the children to hammers, using these on the pumpkins.
Diwali
This week we have been learning about the festival of light, Diwali. We have read the story of Rama and Sita and explored how the festival is celebrated. We have made mehndi patterns in the fine motor area, explored rangoli patterns and practised our cutting skills to make diva lanterns.
Learning about Feelings
To support all our children with settling in and understanding their own and other’s feelings, we introduced a story titled ‘The Colour Monster’. One day, Colour Monster wakes up feeling mixed up. To help him, a little girl shows him what each feeling means.
Autumn Colour Hunt
We went on an Autumn Colour Hunt in our Woodland Area, finding leaves to match different colours.
Sand and Water Play
The children have been developing their gross motor skills through exploring our sand and water tools outside.
Signs of Autumn
We have been looking for signs of Autumn in our nursery garden.
New Beginnings
We have had a lovely start to the new school year. We have enjoyed welcoming new children and our new Deputy Head, Mrs Nattrass.
