My child is three but not yet toilet trained. Does that mean they can’t start nursery yet?
All children are welcome in nursery, regardless of their toilet training stage. We will work alongside you to support them through toilet training, when they are ready. Please put a fresh nappy/pull up on before they come to nursery, and supply a batch of fresh nappies/pull ups for if they need a change in their session.
Do they have to wear uniform?
Uniform is not compulsory, but most parents prefer their child to wear the nursery sweatshirt or cardigan as it saves decisions about what to wear each day.
Do I need to pay for snack or school fund?
Children who access a two year old place, or whom we receive pupil premium funding are not charged. For other children we make a small weekly charge to cover the cost of their snacks and fruit throughout the week. This also helps cover the cost of water bottles, wipes, tissues, spare clothes, playdough ingredients, special occasion food and end of term gifts. This is paid for through Parent Pay.
Do I need to provide a spare change of clothes?
No, we have spare clothes for children in case of odd (toilet) accidents. If they are at the early stages of toilet training and you expect them to have a lot of accidents, then it would be helpful to supply us with a couple of changes in a carrier bag.
Do they need to bring a water bottle?
We provide all children with a named water bottle which they will have access to throughout the day. At snack times they will also be offered a drink of milk.
My child is not used to being away from me, do I have to send them in for all of their hours straight away?
No, we are happy to be flexible and work with what suits you and your child best. It is better to establish regular hours so that children become settled in a routine, but they can gradually build up to their full entitlement (15 or 30 hours) if this suits them/you. All children have a minimum of two shorter, introductory sessions.
How will I find out about my child ‘s progress?
Throughout an academic year we will put termly updates on Tapestry (information will be given about this when your child starts). You will invited to two parent feedbacks each academic year.
